Sample ProjectsCollaborative Regional Planning Support - Tahoe Pathway 2007
We provided technical project management support for the development of desired conditions and indicators for the management of natural resources in the Tahoe Basin. EI facilitated over 40 agency staff members and contractors organized under ten different resource area technical working groups. EI worked directly with agency management and executives on inter-agency coordination, work planning and public communications. The project will result in updated management plans and regulations for the Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board, the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, the USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, and the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency. Global Climate Change Adaptation Project
We led the development and use of a climate change adaptation planning framework to guide local, Nevada, California and federal agencies in coordinated climate change planning. The framework directly links science findings to policy and project decisions through a risk-based decision process that enables policymakers and investors to proceed with the knowledge that past climactic conditions are not likely to represent future conditions. The project team is also creating decision support tools that provide a structured policy development process to incorporate research, communication and decision-making steps. The framework and several examples will illustrate how agencies can adapt current strategic plans, actions and decisions to account for expected climate changes.
Land Coverage & Marketable Rights Study
We are leading the evaluation of the existing coverage policy in the Tahoe Basin, which will produce policy recommendations that assist TRPA and the land banks in achieving the objectives defined through a broad stakeholder engagement process. Through the current update of the TRPA Regional Plan the Tahoe Basin has the unique opportunity to revise and update coverage transfer, excess coverage mitigation and related TRPA land use policy to be more effective. This project team will craft a widely supported policy alternative that will demonstrably achieve environmental and socio-economic objectives. We are using a rigorous analytical approach and tools to support evaluation of policy alternatives identified through meaningful engagement with agency managers, market practitioners and key stakeholders. The recommendations will be developed with the intent of direct inclusion in the Regional Plan and revised Memoranda of Understanding. |
