ECOSYSTEM MARKETPLACE & ECOSYSTEM SERVICE MARKETS ANALYSES PROJECTS
Clients:
The Katoomba Group
Forest Trends
The Sustainable Land Fund

Environmental Incentives performed a comprehensive analysis of domestic and international water quality trading programs and watershed services payment schemes with available information.  Further, EI completed market analyses for conservation real estate investors who seek to develop projects that supply credits into regulated markets, such as water quality trading programs and wetland, stream and habitat mitigation banks.

This breadth of understanding allows EI to bring a wide range of policy tools available to market designers.  Further, by understanding both the policy-maker and project developer perspectives, EI can develop market-based incentive programs that change the game from entrenchment against command-and-control regulation to inspiring action through incentives.

Ecosystem Marketplace - Making the Priceless Valuable www.ecosystemmarketplace.com

The Ecosystem Marketplace seeks to become the world’s leading source of information on markets and payment schemes for ecosystem services. By providing solid and trust-worthy information on prices, regulation, science, and other market-relevant issues, markets for ecosystem services will one day become a fundamental part of our economic and environmental system, helping give value to environmental services that have, for too long, been taken for granted.

Environmental Incentives provided all water and wetland related market research and analysis for Ecosystem Marketplace.  Products included producing feature articles and analyst reports as well as market overviews and detailed transaction investigations for the following market areas: Water Quality Trading in the United States and Canada, Wetland Mitigation Banking in the United States, Salinity Trading in Australia, Payments for Ecosystem Services in Costa Rica, Payments for Hydrologic Services in Mexico, and Water Quantity Trading in the United States.

Conservation Real Estate & Ecosystem Service Market Analyses

Environmental Incentives completed a comprehensive analysis of market drivers and funding sources for conservation real estate markets to support private investment decisions.  The result is a proprietary database of government expenditures and private funding sources that fund mitigation banks, property and easement acquisition and ecosystem restoration.  EI is building on this database to develop a market attractiveness index that will focus on regulated markets including water quality trading and mitigation banking.
