Katie Riley leverages her academic background in environmental management and ecosystem service valuation, as well as her professional experience in public policymaking, to drive innovative, collaborative approaches to environmental sustainability from business, private investors and governmental institutions. She is currently working to establish environmental accounting systems that define benefits to water quality and other ecosystem services for the Mokelumne and Klamath River watersheds.
Katie is an accredited LEED Green Associate, and has an MS from the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management at UC Santa Barbara, where she specialized in Environmental Economics & Policy and Corporate Environmental Management. At the Bren School, Katie completed her master’s thesis quantifying the social and biophysical impacts of ecosystem services in urban environments. Prior to her graduate work, Katie completed a policy internship for Oceana in Washington D.C., where she worked on sustainable seafood initiatives and lobbied on Capitol Hill for legislation to reduce aquatic mercury pollution.
