Maria Mircheva is interested in applying business approaches to solve environmental problems. Her technical and social skills allow her to participate effectively in multi-stakeholder projects and their implementation. A year ago, Ms. Mircheva completed a team research project on the Environmental Practices of Nanotechnology companies which was published in Environmental Science and Technology. Previously, she worked as a business consultant for four years. Ms. Mircheva is a licensed CPA and has conducted over 20 financial audits of private companies. In addition, Ms. Mircheva has worked on international engagements to improve the operations of the technology innovator Sun Microsystems. In the past year, Ms. Mircheva has led a small non-profit in the Tahoe Basin, the Sugar Pine Foundation. Her duties included securing funding, administration of projects and grants, and public outreach and education. Ms. Mircheva also taught business, entrepreneurship and financial accounting classes. Ms. Mircheva holds a BA in Business Economics and a Master in Environmental Science and Management from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her graduate studies focused on public policy for conservation planning.
